Scotts Valley

Scotts Valley is a small town tucked in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Welcome to Scotts Valley

Scotts Valley is a small town tucked in the Santa Cruz Mountains that offers much of the same appeal of Santa Cruz. While it doesn’t sit as close to a beach as other parts of the county, it’s still close enough to state parks and local beaches that a spur of the moment trip is never out of the question.

Scotts Valley is a natural fit for those who want to enjoy all that Santa Cruz County has to offer, while still living in a smaller community and having an easier commute to Silicon Valley. You can find everything you need in town as far as food, nearby restaurants, and all the necessities of day-to-day life, but it’s also small enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a busy city. Here are some of the highlights of living in Scotts Valley.

Attractions

Skypark

The large Skypark complex in Scotts Valley is where a lot of the entertainment happens in town, from fireworks to concerts and festivals. Aside from the events hosted at Skypark, you can easily enjoy a day at the park in any number of different ways thanks to all the options available. The park includes two playgrounds, barbecue and picnic areas, soccer field, bocce ball courts, basketball court, tennis court, pump track, skate park, dog park, and a walking trail.

Art & Wine Festival

As mentioned above, Skypark plays host to most major outdoor events in Scotts Valley and one of the biggest is the Art, Wine, & Beer Festival. The festival is a two day event and features a dizzying array of entertainment and activities. Guests can sample the handiwork of winemakers and brewers alongside the artists, live music options, fresh food, a car show, and even a dog show while enjoying the festivities. It’s definitely one of the signature events of Scotts Valley and one you don’t want to miss.

Scotts Valley Farmers Market

One of the benefits of living in Scotts Valley is that it’s conveniently close to everything without being as crowded, but you can still get everything you need in town, including fresh local produce. The Scotts Valley Farmers Market is seasonal, not year-round, but does provide the same great options as other farmers markets in the area.

Recreation

Lodato Park

A favorite among Scotts Valley residents is Lodato Park, a hiking trail tucked away behind a business complex and a quiet residential street. The short 1.5 mile loop is the perfect spot for a hike after work or on your lunch break. Dogs are welcome, too as long as they are leashed!

Glenwood Trail Preserve

One of the newest additions to Scotts Valley are the meandering trails in the Glenwood Open Space Preserve. These multi-use trails overlook the city of Scotts Valley and are shared among hikers, mountain bikers and the Scotts Valley High School cross country team.
