Sam is excited to announce that he, along with his colleagues in the Santa Cruz and Aptos offices, have partnered with Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project for this quarter’s donations. One percent of all his commissions in the second quarter of 2019 will be donated to Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project, as will those of others participating in the program.

The 1% for Good program originated in the Santa Cruz Sereno Group office out of a desire to help contribute to worthwhile community causes through philanthropic donations. The program has since extended to other Sereno Group branches and offices in the Bay Area, resulting in a joint effort to support and contribute to local communities. Each office independently decides which local organization they will donate 1% of quarterly commissions to, allowing them to find a worthy local cause and donate where it’s needed the most. Since 2012, Sereno agents have donated over $2,148,723 to local organizations!

Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project is a membership-based nonprofit 501c3 organization. Its mission is to recover the native salmon and steelhead populations of the Monterey Bay region. Their genetic conservation hatchery can help sustain and recover salmonids native to the greater Monterey Bay area. Membership is made up of a very diverse group of salmonid enthusiasts with a civic minded, hands-on approach to fisheries recovery.

Programs include:

• Coho Salmon Recovery – Working to save endangered Central California Coast coho salmon from extinction
• Steelhead Restoration – Restoring & recovering the iconic steelhead of the Monterey Bay region
• Chinook Salmon Enhancement – Enhancing sport & commercial fisheries through coastal net pen releases
• Salmon & Trout Education Program (STEP) – Creating the next generation of conservationists by engaging K-12 students
